Question:
Are the NASCAR 'fans' who DEMAND 'pack draft racing' at Daytona and Talladega the fans who like 'big wrecks?

At the practice for the Shootout @ Daytona, the cars were running in 'pack' formation and there was just now, a few hours into practice, a fairly big wreck...I get it now, the fans who love 'the big one' (wreck) love pack racing...

The drivers are still trying to figure out how to 'tandem', which is better and faster...the drivers have more control and if they wreck, it's usually just the pair in the 'tandem'...

SO...comments?

No real fan wants to see cars destroyed and the field going around the track at caution speeds. I almost would rather see the tandem racing because of all of these big wrecks that happen in pack racing. That wreck in practice is a perfect example of what happens when cars get bunched up together. When something like that happens in the middle of the pack, there is just nowhere for drivers to go, which causes huge pile ups. It is what it is, though; NASCAR really tries to please fans, and this is what the majority of fans want. Not to mention, nearly all of the drivers prefer pack racing over tandem racing.

The two car tandem is new it has happened two seasons before that the packs could be 5 and 6 cars drafting together. The accident that happened in practice was a result of a two car tandem coming up on traffic the Second car could not see the Traffic and had nowhere to go. Daytona is always been a place of Multi car accident that's why they use restrict plates to keep their speed around 200 instead of 210 and higher. Bill Eliot qualified at Daytona with an average speed of 212mph in 1987 I believe.

Not at all. Big wrecks ruin races. Pack formation is much more exciting to watch than tandem, and makes for better racing.

It was just a 5 or 6 car wreck. It's not a "Big One" unless it's around 10 or more cars, IMO. I love the pack racing, but the crashes just come with racing at 195 mph. There have been big wrecks everywhere, not just the plate tracks.

They probably do. The driver who is pushing can't see everything and one wrong move like moving left in a turn will set off a big wreck. Personally I say take out the plates and see what the cars can do. It is better to have 43 cars spread out at 210 than packed together at 195.

Sure, any one watching Nascar love's white knuckle racing. Pack draft racing is awesome to watch because it keeps me glued to the TV every lap. The big one is something we all wait for during Daytona and Talladega. Big wrecks are awesome to watch. Except when MY driver is in it.

No. It become genuine speedy and a exciting technique. It extra drama to the race and made it so all and sundry who attached with a stable companion must be out front. It stronger the probabilities of passing and likewise lessened the prospect of the huge one. At this element in time with those autos and each and all of the regulations NASCAR has positioned on them without the two motor vehicle draft it may be like observing the only record memorial day parade bypass by ability of at 2 hundred MPH minus the firetrucks and the tossing of candy.

You weren't really watching dipshit, or you would know that the two guys who started that wreck were attempting to "tandem" draft.

Personally I like the two car thing, but it doesn't always work so well. Tony Stewart and Michael Waltrip both wrecked team mates/employees doing it last year.

Oh well.

Maybe they like packing each other.
